KAT-TUN "Birth" Regular Edition CD Cover

My favorite Japanese boy band KAT-TUN's new single "Birth" released November 30th reached #1 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart and sold 193,584 copies in its first week of release making it the band's 17th consecutive number one single and best selling single of 2011.

I absolutely love singing along to the songs in the new single, so I put together the lyrics to all four songs from the CD along with the official PV's (promotional videos) to the first two tracks and fan-made videos to the two other songs. KAT-TUN "Birth" PV Commentary

The very stylish, slightly monochromatic video for "Birth" features spectacular aerial shots of the city and a lot of scenes where the members of KAT-TUN are just looking into the camera, standing, sitting, or lying down with some sort of cube. It looks really cool and all, but I would have wanted to see more of KAT-TUN's dance moves like during their live performance of the song in NTV's Best Artist 2011. There is a short dance sequence near the end of the PV, but it's nowhere enough to satisfy me. ^_- Watching this video, KAT-TUN fans will also notice that Ueda Tatsuya's hair was shaved really short for the first time. I kind of like it. Do you? :)

On another note, "Birth" is also the ending theme of KAT-TUN member Kamenashi Kazuya's new TV series "Yokai Ningen Bem" which is currently airing in Japan. "Yokai Ningen Bem" is a story about three artificially created "monsters" and their quest to become human.

KAT-TUN "Star Rider" PV Commentary

The PV for "Star Rider" is a straight up dance video showcasing the dancing abilities of KAT-TUN. Like the PV for "Birth", it also looks monochromatic - even more so actually, alternating between black and white backgrounds with KAT-TUN wearing silver, gray and black outfits. But I have to say that the first thing I noticed when I watched this video was Kamenashi Kazuya's fluffy, wavy hair. Honestly, I didn't quite like it at first, and it took me some time to get used to it. Taguchi Junnosuke, on the other hand, looks really good in this PV! I love his moves and the way he looks here. :)

Also, "Star Rider" is the song used in the new Suzuki Solio Black & White commercial featuring KAT-TUN. (See video below.) Currently, there are two photos of KAT-TUN in the official website for Suzuki Solio: one in which they are wearing all white posing in front of a Solio White, and another where they are wearing all black posing in front of a Solio Black.

"Act on Emotion"

"Act on Emotion" does not have a PV (promotional video) at the moment, but you can still listen to the song in this fan-made karaoke cover. Just imagine KAT-TUN singing it. ^_^

This is probably my most favorite song in the new single. It's an upbeat and happy tune that makes me want to snap my fingers as I sing along. What do you think?

More About KAT-TUN's New Single "Birth"

According to an official announcement from KAT-TUN's talent agency, of the four songs in this single, only "Birth" will be included in the band's 6th album "Chains" which is set to be released on February 22, 2012. Other songs which will also be included are the band's previous singles "Change Ur World", "Ultimate Wheels", "White", and "Run For You" along with 5 previously released solo tracks (one from each member) and 7 new songs.

This album will be like a belated birthday present for me since my birthday is in February. And I guess it's an early birthday present for Kamenashi Kazuya whose birthday is the day after the scheduled release date. Either way, I'm really looking forward to the new songs!
